Leading Them Home

I was driving to church early one Sunday morning down a busy two-lane road when I noticed the strangest sight – a small child clothed only in diapers walking along the white line of the road all by himself. After barely missing the child, I jumped out to assist.

“Where are you going, little boy?” I asked. He did not reply. He looked dazed and out of sorts.

“Where is your home?” I continued. He answered in gibberish that I could not understand.

Without any other options, I decided to lead him down a side road near where we met. “When you see your house, point to it”, I instructed him.

Sure enough, a couple of houses down the road he pointed to a home. We went to the door and found that this indeed was his house and his parents were both shocked and relieved to have their child returned to their home.

As I turned to go to my car, I had the overwhelming sense of God being there. God awoke me to a truth he wanted me to see. God wanted me to see that people without Christ, those who are spiritually lost, are just like this little boy. They are confused, lost, naked, alone, an inch away from destruction and all they need is for someone to take them by the hand and lead them home. God broke my heart for lost people that day and I will never be the same. Ask God to break your heart for the lost; they just need someone to take them by the hand and lead them Home.
